APN Outdoor Gets Wild In Nat Geo Campaign

Outdoor provider, APN Outdoor and Fox International Channels have unveiled a collaborative campaign to promote Nat Geo WILD’s upcoming series Wild Australia.

The campaign encompasses a national campaign across APN Outdoor’s high definition Digital Billboard network, as well as an interactive activation in Sydney’s Railway Square. Recently the show was quite literally brought to life when one of APN Outdoor’s buses was completely transformed with some of Australia’s favourite native creatures making it their home for the day.

The Wild Australia bus opened its doors early in the morning, greeting commuters and students making their way to work and study with a baby Wombat, Red Kangaroo joey, Saltwater Crocodile, Barn Owl, Boobook Owl, Wedge Tailed Eagle and Black Diamond Python. Game passersby were welcomed aboard to enjoy an up close and personal experience with some of Australia’s feathered, furry and scaly friends who were kept under the care of professional handlers.

Nat Geo WILD’s Ben Britton was on site to ensure that the experience was both enjoyable and educational for all involved and to share in the hype surrounding the new series. The bus was also open for business in the afternoon and early evening to catch the rush on the commute home.

Britton, who hosts Animal Encounters and Big Cat Week on Nat Geo WILD, commented “It’s exciting to see so many people come out and share an up close and personal encounter with our friendliest native animals. Wild Australia is a great way to learn about all the amazing wild-life we have in our own backyard but seldom see in the big cities.”

Janine Wood, General Manager of Marketing at APN Outdoor commented “We love working with clients who want to push the boundaries of Outdoor and use our assets to demand attention and create valuable and interactive brand experiences. This execution highlights the effectiveness of activation zones in and around the rail environment as well as the versatility of transit advertising. Nat Geo WILD has brought the experience of Wild Australia to life in the CBD and turned the traditional commute on its head, we applaud their innovative approach.”

Wild Australia begins August 5th at 7.30 PM AEST on Nat Geo WILD and Sunday at 6.30pm AEST on National Geographic Channel.
