Bauer Media announces that after 13 years as editor-in-chief of Australian Gourmet Traveller, Anthea Loucas Bosha has decided to leave the business for personal reasons.

During Anthea’s tenure, Australian Gourmet Traveller has become the preeminent food and travel title in Australia, and one of Bauer Media’s most successful multi-platform brands spanning not only print and digital but restaurant and hotel guides, cookbooks, events, Chinese editions, cruising specials, bespoke touring and merchandise.

Loucas Bosha is leaving the role due to personal reasons, she will move back to her hometown of Melbourne to be with family. Her departure follows the 50th anniversary issue of Gourmet Traveller, which at 276 pages is the biggest and most commercially successful issue in the magazine’s storied history.

Nick Chan, Bauer Media CEO said: “Anthea is a star performer who has done an outstanding job on Gourmet Traveller. We’re sad to see her go, but her personal priorities should always come first. We wish her all the very best for the future.”

Cornelia Schulze, general manager, food at Bauer Media said: “Anthea has lived and breathed Gourmet Traveller for more than a decade and leaves the brand on a high. Her impact on its success over the last 13 years has been crucial and this year is no exception with the title picking up a recent AMA Award for Food Magazine Brand of the Year and delivering an amazing 50th anniversary issue. In this next chapter of her life she has decided she needs to be at home with family in Melbourne. While we respect her decision, we’ll be very sad to see her go. I want to thank her for all her hard work over the many years and wish her every success in the future.”

Loucas Bosha added: “This role has afforded me the most wonderful opportunities and experiences but the greatest privilege has been to lead this extraordinary team. I am extremely proud of the great strides we have made with this brand and it is with a heavy heart that I have made this decision, but I am excited about moving back to my hometown to be with family and explore new opportunities.”

She will leave at the end of January. A search for her replacement is underway, with an announcement to be made in due course.
