Carat Australia has announced the appointment of Yahoo 7’s head of brand, Andrea Rule (pictured above), to the role of chief marketing officer.

Rule departs Yahoo7 after five years with the business, and is now tasked with heading up Carat’s existing marketing function. Her remit will include brand positioning, trade marketing, and contributing to new business development nationally for the media agency.

Carat CEO Paul Brooks (pictured above) said Rule’s unique and versatile skill set was integral to her appointment, with Rule having worked across agency, publisher, and client-side over the course of her career.

“Andrea is a brilliant hire for us. We’ve been looking for the right candidate with a very specific skill set in mind – one I’m delighted to say we’ve found in Andrea,” he said.

“Her commercial nous and proven expertise in strategic integration and content marketing will no doubt be an invaluable asset to Carat.

“It goes without saying she’s extremely well-respected and highly sought-after in market. Her appointment signifies our continued focus on and commitment to recruiting high-performing talent.”

Commenting on her appointment, Rule said: “This presents an opportunity to work with a great team and market-leading brand. I’ve been impressed with the innovative approach Carat has to marketing, and I’m looking forward to continuing and evolving that effort.”

Rule will commence her new role on Monday 19 June, and will be based in Sydney.

She is the latest in a series of key C-level appointments for Carat in the last 12 months, which include Brooks and chief data and experience officer Brendon Cropper.
