Amanda Laing Set To Become Most Senior Female Exec In Aussie TV With Nine Promotion

Amanda Laing is tipped to be handed a neat little promotion by Nine Entertainment Co, with more responsibilities and a nice new title for her letterhead.

According to The Australian, the move marks the first major management change by Nine’s new top dog Hugh Marks, and will leave her with the title of managing director. Nine is expected to announce the appointment as soon as this week, however The Oz believes Laing will not join the board.

Laing has taken on more responsibilities since Marks took the reigns from former boss David Gyngell last month. She also played a key role in Nine’s big $625 million NRL broadcast deal recently, and is involved in the network’s talks with WIN Corporation, per The Oz.

The appointment is good news for the ladies, too, with Laing now sitting up with the big boys as the most senior female executive in the Aussie television industry.

Laing was appointed Nine group general counsel in 2006 and commercial director in 2013. She was one of the contenders in with a shout to replace David Gyngell.
