Acxiom, an enterprise data, analytics and software-as-a-service company, has announced the appointment of digital media and marketing expert, Dean Capobianco, as the new managing director of its Australia and New Zealand offices.

Capobianco, a former executive with ninemsn, Yahoo! and News Corp, has spent the last two years building an international sales and operations footprint for China Search International, an international sales partner for Chinese online media giant, Baidu.  His move to Acxiom is motivated by the emergence of data-driven marketing and his desire to support advertisers in the growth and evolution of marketing data use to maximise campaign results.

With the acquisition of LiveRamp and a larger focus on onboarding services, Acxiom can now connect offline Marketing Databases and the consumer-level insights they hold, with the online advertising world to increase digital marketing efficiency.  This allows brands to connect with their audiences, 1:1 at scale across all channels. Currently, businesses in Australia are using Acxiom onboarding to increase conversion rates, reduce cost per acquisition and increase their return on marketing investment.

Capobianco will support this region’s development, especially with the new wins and ongoing partnerships that are already established in Australia and New Zealand, as well as supporting businesses that want to expand their marketing efforts into the Asia Pacific region.

“I’m extremely excited about joining the business at this time,” said Dean Capobianco.  “Big data is high priority on every marketers’ agenda – and Acxiom is well- placed to lead the way and help shape the industry.”

Studies show that 80% of marketers say data currently plays an important role for them and 92% expect to increase the contribution of data to their marketing efforts to become more customer-centric and to improve returns on their marketing spend, according to Global DMA’s Global Review of Data-driven Marketing and Advertising.  At the same time, research shows that display and Facebook are delivering increased value-for-ad-spend.  In a market that’s relatively small, yet highly advanced in APAC, Acxiom Australia is well positioned to take advantage of these trends with its onboarding and Big Data solutions.

Capobianco who will join the company in February, will report into APAC managing director, Frederic Jouve. “With 16 years of digital media and marketing experience in senior roles with market leading players, Dean brings proven skills and leadership to help our clients get the most out of their marketing investments by driving growth and higher profitability” Jouve said.
