The ABC and SBS have announced that audiences in Hobart will now have access to a range of new radio stations with the launch of digital radio (DAB+) services.
Listeners will be able to enjoy the full range of SBS radio, as well as ABC radio services including Double J, ABC Jazz, ABC Country, ABC Extra, ABC Grandstand Unearthed, and ABC KIDS listen.
Pip Spilsbury, acting director of audio and language content at SBS, said: “With the permanent installation, our audiences will now be able to enjoy the complete range of services provided by SBS radio.”
Michael Mason, director of ABC regional and local, added: “The introduction of digital radio in Hobart is an important milestone for the ABC, as it coincides with the launch of the latest addition to our digital-only channels, ABC KIDS listen.
“We are sure that the pre-school audience in Hobart will enjoy this new channel as much as children have in other parts of the country since its launch several weeks ago.”
Listeners utilising DAB+ services can expect to be able to tune by station name, pause, rewind and record, and view additional text information on songs and artists, as well as news and weather updates.
