‘Prescribing Your Career’ marked the first Queensland Youngbloods event of 2014 and students and industry professionals hungry for insider tips attended the sell-out event.

Leading industry professionals from Clemenger BBDO, UM, Reload Media, Eagle Boys Pizza, PPR and The White Agency spoke to university students at a sell-out event on Wednesday night held by Youngbloods Queensland.

Youngbloods is an initiative of the Communications Council and helps students and young professionals break into the advertising, media, marketing and communications industries.

‘Prescribing Your Career’ aimed to provide university students with tips to kick-start their careers.

Tickets to the event sold out within a week of being released, demonstrating a demand for insider industry knowledge.

Anna Kelly, Youngbloods Queensland Co-Chair, said the event hosted six very different professionals from various roles.

“As the borders of these industries become more and more blurred and new roles continually become created, we thought it essential to host an event specifically dedicated to showcasing the directions one’s career may take, “ Kelly says.

“Through hearing the speakers’ stories of employment, what they like or dislike about their job and future directions they plan to take, we hope members will be inspired to prescribe their own career.

“With ‘Prescribing Your Career’, a dose of real life experience and the recommended future dosage of Youngbloods networking, we think our members are well on their way to a healthy happy career.”

Over $1000 worth in prizes were given out on the night including a prestigious internship with Junior Cru Agency and an AdSchool Australia workshop supplied by the Communications Council Queensland.

Anyone working in industry, in their final year of studies, or new to the industry can become a member. Membership is free and includes industry news, educational events and updates about the social networking opportunities that Youngbloods run throughout each year."
