When Love Comes to Nine

The debut of Nine’s new reality love show squeezed itself into the top ten last night as the network’s reality singing show crushed the rest of the competition.

Pulling in an audience of 1.714 million free-to-air viewers last night the blind auditions on The Voice grabbed 339,000 more viewers than the second most watched show, Seven News (1.375 million viewers), according to OzTam preliminary metro ratings.

Competition for the 8.30pm timeslot is beginning to heat up as the first episode of Nine’s When Love Comes to Town debuted to 868,000 with Seven’s drama Resurrection hot on the show’s heels with 857,000 viewers (in ninth and tenth place respectively).

The first episode of Nine’s love program saw Melbournians the most interested in whether the women would stay or go with 303,000 viewers in Melbourne compared to 268,000 viewers in Sydney.

Where yesterday saw Seven’s renovation reality show House Rules at 7.30pm nab 1.487 million viewers, last night’s episode dipped to 1.146 million, falling behind the news programs.

Ten’s reality cooking show Masterchef, also in the 7.30pm timeslot, came in 13th last night, up 32,000 viewers from Monday night’s broadcast.

Nine won the night overall with a total combined share of all free-to-air metro viewers of 32.8%, with the network’s main channel grabbing a 25.6% share.

Seven came in second with a total share of 28.8% with its primary station seeing 20.3% of the network’s share.

Ten pulled a bronze with a 17.9% share as the network’s main channel snatched up 13.3%.

ABC came fourth with a total share of 15.5%, ABC1 seeing 11.3%. SBS came fifth with 5% in total and SBS One seeing a 4.3% share.
