The Guardian Australia makes seven hires

The Guardian has appointed seven contributors to work on its local digital edition, including a former senior B&T reporter.

Oliver Milman, who was with B&T from 2008 to 2010 and is currently editor of StartupSmart.com.au, is set to join the Guardian as a reporter. He has also regularly contributed environmental articles to the Guardian since 2011.

Current SBS journalist Helen Davidson and Brisbanetimes.com.au reporter Bridie Jabour  will also join the Guardian in coming weeks.

Fairfax Regional Digital Media’s multimedia editor Nick Evershed has been hired as a data journalist.

Joining the political editorial team are Simon Jackman and Greg Jericho.

Jericho, author of Grog’s Gamut blog will write on economics while Jackman, professor of political science at Stanford University, will join as a polling expert.

Rounding out the new hires is Mike Ticher who will take the role of Guardian site editor for the Asia-Pacific timezone. Ticher is currently working on the foreign desk for Fairfax Media.
