The Block wins key demos but Seven wins overall

Just three weeks in to Elementary’s season and viewers seem to have fallen out with the Sherlock Holmes drama which pulled less than 900,000 viewers last night.

Elementary sat in 10th place with an audience of 899,000, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

The result is down on Elementary’s premiere which won more than 1.2 million viewers.

MasterChef: The Professionals again reached its weekly high on Sunday evening with the absence of My Kitchen Rules allowing the program to jump up to 859,000 viewers in 11th place.

Seven’s Downton Abbey was watched by 1.216 million people and claimed second place.

Seven’s Sunday Night won the 6.30pm slot with 1.188 million viewers, ahead of The Block: All Star’s 1.119 million.

60 Minutes was Nine’s best performing show in third place with 1.214 million viewers as 60 Minutes – Extra pulled in 909,000.

Among the 16-39 demographic The Block was the star followed by 60 Minutes, MasterChef, Elementary and Modern Family.

The 18-49 demo largely mimicked the viewing habits of the 16-39s with The Block again leading, with 60 Minutes in second, then Elementary, MasterChef and 60 Minutes Extra.

Seven won the night overall with a 23.6% share of all free-to-air viewers. Nine came second with a 20.3% share ahead of Ten’s 14.8%, the ABC’s 13% and SBS’ 4.9%.
