The Block wins, Elementary wins top 20 place for Ten

Nine has won Sunday night’s television ratings war as The Block: Fans v Faves inched towards the two million mark to outstrip Seven’s My Kitchen Rules.

The Block: Fans v Faves was the most watched program on TV last night with 1.758 million tuning in to see the master bedrooms and ensuites revealed.

The only prime-time slot Nine lost to Seven last night was 9pm when Downton Abbey (1.125 million) was broadcast, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

60 Minutes kicked off 20 minutes ahead of Seven’s Sunday Night last night to bring in 1.513 million viewers. The live turning-on of a cochlear implant wasn’t enough for Sunday Night to win the battle between the programs with 1.307 million people choosing Seven’s offering.

 Nine News pulled in 1.425 million viewers compared to Seven News’ 1.146 million.

Sunday night’s first episode of Fat Tony & Co pulled in 983,000 viewers for Nine with the second, which was not broadcast in Sydney or Brisbane, bringing in 544,000.

In the 8.30pm slot Ten’s Elementary came fourth with 372,000 viewers to sit behind the ABC’s Rake (627,000).

Elementary was Ten’s only top 20 program.

With the afternoon broadcast of Nine’s Sunday Afternoon NRL in Sydney and Brisbane winning a top 20 place and brining in another 407,000 viewers for Nine was firmly on top overall yesterday.

Nine won a combined 36.9% share of all free-to-air viewers yesterday ahead of Seven’s 34%.

Nine’s primary channel won 27.6%.

Seven’s main channel took home 25.5% with My Kitchen Rules bringing in 1.545 million viewers.

Ten was in fourth place behind the ABC with its total 11.1% share. Ten’s primary channel won just 6.2%.

The ABC sat on a total 14.2% with 10.4% for ABC1.

SBS sat in last place on a combined 3.8% with 3.1% going to SBS ONE.
