Street magazine The Big Issue has joined the digital revolution with the independent title to be available online from next week.

From June 7 readers will be able to purchase a printed or digital copy of the fortnightly title for $6 with $3 from every sale to go to the homeless, marginalised or disadvantaged vendors.

When readers purchase a digital copy from their vendors they will be provided with a printed card featuring an access card.

That card will allow them to access the copy on desktop, smartphone, laptop or tablet.

“We’re pleased to be one of the first street papers in the world to offer a digital edition to our customers and hope it gives readers more reading flexibility while still supporting our vendors on the street.”

“Thanks to our readers, vendors across Australia have already sold eight million copies of The Big Issue magazine since 1996, earning more than $16 million in income.”
