Network Ten has commissioned the Australian production of dating show, The Bachelor.
Produced by Shine Australia, The Bachelor will feature Australia’s most eligible bachelor on a quest to find love.
The prime-time television event, which has just celebrated its 17th season in the United States, will give one Australian bachelor and a collection of bachelorettes.
Throughout the series, the bachelor follows a gradual process of elimination, presenting his favourite
bachelorettes with single red roses until he finds the one woman with whom he wants to spend the rest of his life.
“More than six million Australians – or 41% of the population – are single, providing Network Ten and Shine Australia with a wealth of bachelors and bachelorettes to draw on,” a release from Ten said.
Network Ten chief programming officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “The Bachelor is one of the longest-running and most successful television franchises in the world, with productions in 24 countries.
“We are thrilled to be working with Shine to take this iconic show and create a uniquely Australian entertainment event.”
Shine Australia CEO, Mark Fennessy, said: “There are few marquee brands which have enjoyed the same connection with audiences worldwide as The Bachelor. We're delighted to bring this brilliant
series to Australian viewers and look forward to introducing our very own Prince Charming"
Production of The Bachelor will start shortly and the series will air on TEN later this year.
