Sunday’s The Ashes series proved a strong lead in for Nine’s primetime schedule, helping Nine take the night from Seven with a total 30.2% share of all free-to-air viewers.

Nine’s 60 Minutes was the evening’s most watched show with 1.38 million viewers, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

Nine News came second with 1.315 million followed by David Attenborough’s Secrets of Wild India (1.149 million).

Session three of The Ashes pulled in 1.064 million, session one won 1.002 million and the second was watched by 962,000 fans.

The six top 10 broadcasts elevated Nine to a total 30.2% share of viewers with 23.3% for the network’s primary channel.

Seven sat on a total 29.3% with 20.3% for its main channel.

Seven’s only top 10 shows were Seven News (1.124 million) and Sunday Night (1.111 million).

Ten had four top 20 shows including two Modern Family episodes, one with 740,000 viewers and the other with 731,000, and Elementary (707,000).

Ten sat on a total 16.9% share behind the ABC’s 18.7%.

Ten’s main channel took 11.8% compared to ABC1’s 14.4%.

The ABC’s most watched show was Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor (922,000).

SBS was left with a 4.9% share with 4.3% for SBS ONE.
