Soccer scores 13th spot on TV ratings ladder

Over 760,000 viewers tuned in SBS One for the FIFA Australia vs Jordan match last night, placing the broadcast 13th in OzTam’s preliminary metro overnight rankings.

With regional audiences included the result exceeded the million mark, with SBS recording an average national audience of 1,034,000.

SBS will broadcast the Socceroos match against Iraq from 8:00pm next Tuesday 18 June on SBS ONE.

Nine had both the highest rating and the lowest rating non-news shows in the top 20, with The Block dominating and Celebrity Apprentice plummeting.

The renovation show sat third with 1.24 million viewers, while the Mark Bouris-hosted boardroom drama fell to 17th with 672,000. Its other episode, labeled ‘Challenge’ scored even less with 633,000.

Seven’s Packed to the Rafters was the second highest rating non-news program, pulling 1.13 million viewers, and was followed by Seven’s House Rules on 1.09 million.

Home and Away on Seven just missed the million mark but beat Nine’s The Big Bang Theory which lured 873,000.

MasterChef Australia on Ten slid in at 15 with 715,000, while NCIS was Ten’s highest rating show of the evening, with 802,000.

Nine News won the night with 1.33 million, followed by Seven News on 1.26 million. A Current Affair came fourth with 1.15 million, while Today Tonight came seventh with 1.05 million.
