Ratings result music to Nine's and SBS' ears

Seven’s A Place to Call Home returned to the free-to-air stage last night to a much smaller crowd than its April 2013 debut.

At 8.40pm the drama fell behind Nine’s 60 Minutes (1.552 million) which wrapped up at 9pm and The Mentalist (902,000) with 865,000 viewers.

The program, which debuted to 1.77 million viewers last year following the My Kitchen Rules final, sat in eighth place last night.

Music was top of mind for television viewers the weekend just past with The Voice pulling in 1.894 million viewers one night after the Eurovision semi-final delivered SBS its top program for 2014.

SBS share was also inflated last night, hitting a total 9% of all free-to-air viewers thanks to interest in the Eurovision final. SBS ONE won 8.4%. 

Nine dominated prime-time last night winning 6pm onwards with Person of Interest, which finished at 11pm, the 16th most watched show with 481,000 viewers.

Nine News kicked off Nine’s prime-time domination with 1.218 million viewers.

Nine won a total 34.1% share of all free-to-air viewers last night with 27.9% going to the network’s primary channel.

Seven won a total of 25.3% with 18.1% for its main channel.

Seven’s House Rules pulled in 1.058 million viewers and sat in fifth place just ahead of Sunday Night (954,000).

Ten narrowly beat the ABC to take third place with the commercial network winning a total 15.9% share compared to the ABC’s 15.7%.

Ten’s MasterChef lost the reality fight to The Voice and House Rules but engaged 770,000 fans.  The cooking contest was Ten’s most watched ahead of Modern Family (525,000) and Elementary (470,000).

Ten’s primary channel took home 11.6% of viewers last night, with Network ONE’s 2.8% contribution and ELEVEN’s 1.4% helping the network beat the ABC.

ABC1 won 12.3%.
