Ten’s quirky drama Offspring nabbed a top 10 spot but was narrowly beaten by Nine’s import, Arrow, in the 8.30pm slot last night

Offspring pulled in 847,000 viewers and sat in 10th place, just behind Arrow’s 856,000 viewers, OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings found.

Hype surrounding the release of Fast & Furious Six in the cinemas didn’t help Seven’s broadcast of the franchise’s fifth instalment.

Fast Five sat in 18th place with 639,000 viewers.

While Seven may have lost the 8.30 pm slot it did win the night overall with a 22.6% of all free to air viewers.

Seven won the night despite Nine’s The Block Sky High (1.367 million) outperforming House Rules (1.139 million). Nine News (1.38 million) also beat Seven News which pulled in an audience of 1.231 million.

Ten’s MasterChef sat in 14th place with 745,000 viewers.

Ten’s main channel wooed 13.7% of FTA TV viewers on Wednesday night, behind Nine’s 21.3% but ahead of the ABC’s 12.4%. SBS One took 3.6%.
