OMD Australia has recruited HTC’s global marketer, Gavin Gibson, as its new national head of strategy.

The appointment is a return to OMD for Gibson (pictured) who, before his most recent roles as global vice president of marketing HTC, was head of Ignition Factory and regional strategic planning director.

He will sit on the OMD executive board with his remit covering all of the agency’s strategic products and national management of the Insights team.

Gibson replaces former head of strategy Alistair Henderson who is leaving the agency after nine years.

During his time at OMD he has been head of Fuse, as well as the branded content and engagement team.

On Gibson, OMD’s CEO Peter Horgan said: “Gavin brings unparalleled strategic pedigree that will help align our content, insights and data capabilities. His connectivity within our network, multi-faceted strategic experience and client side perspective makes him uniquely qualified to take our product to the next level”.

Gibson joins the agency on September 16.
