Channel Nine has retained the rights to broadcast test and one-day international cricket in Australia, while as expected Ten has secured the rights to the Twenty20 Big Bash League.

After months of negotiations for the broadcasting rights Nine has agreed to pay in the region of $80 million a year for the next five years, while Network Ten will pay $20 million a year for the Big Bash rights.

Ten had lodged a bid in excess of $500 million to cover international games and the Big Bash League in an attempt to pinch the rights away from Nine.

The announcement means Nine will broadcast this summer’s Ashes and will see the network extend it's long standing relationship with Cricket Australia.
