Nine and Seven battle it out

It was a battle between Seven and Nine last night for the top spot, with Nine just scraping first place with a total combined share of 28%, with 20.9% going to its primary channel.

Seven was right on Nine’s rear with a total share of 27.6%, with Seven’s main station seeing 18.4%.

Nine also saw a boost in popularity for Leonard, Penny and Sheldon last night with over one million tuning in to the new Big Bang Theory episode on Nine.

The repeat episode on at 7.30pm last night brought 1.015 million pairs of eyes to the screen and slipped the comedy show into seventh position, behind the news and ABC’s Australian Story.

However the second episode at 8pm only saw 876,000 people tuning in and fell down to 12th position.

Both Seven and Nine had six shows each in the top 20 with each of their news shows making the top four.

ABC’s Australian Story at 8pm on Kerry Packer interested 1.062 million people last night and helped lift ABC’s total share of 22.5%.

ABC’s main channel, ABC1 , pulled 16.8% of the network’s total share.

ABC also grabbed six spots in the top 20 from yesterday, with Australian Story and the ABC News drawing in the highest number of viewers for the network.

SBS came fifth with a total share of 4.7%, with SBS One grabbing 3.9%.
