GPY&R have announced a new leadership structure, promoting Matt Farrugia and Julian Bell to managing partners.
The appointments follow the departure of group managing director Steve Doherty who had been with the Y&R network for 15 years.
Being integral cogs in the transformation of GPY&R’s integrated and digital output, the appointments of Farrugia and Bell represent a continuation of the agency’s shift away from traditional and heavy agency structures.
“We have aggressive goals for our Melbourne team and I know Matt and Julian are up for it,” Jason Buckley, Regional COO Y&R Group, said.
“Both will lead but they have their specific remits. Matt will continue to lead digital and head up business development across the entire agency and Julian will continue to lead client services and shape our agency with our clients.”
The appointments follow GPY&R's loss of its client Defence Force to Havas at the end of last year, where a "vacancy" ad appeared in the Australian Financial Review detailing their vacancy for new clients.
The appointments are effective from today with Farrugia and Bell reporting to Buckley who was promoted to COO in 2012 following the news of Russel Howcroft's transition to network Ten.
