Nat Radio Conference: if psychologists ran radio stations

Personality profiles will be created for some of Australia’s best known radio brands at this year’s National Radio Conference.

Among the first speakers to be announced for the Conference is Naked Communications founding partner and consumer psychologist, Adam Ferrier.

Ferrier will run the session exploring the hypothetical situation ‘If Psychologists Ran Radio Stations’.

Ferrier will share “tongue-in-cheek” profiles of prominent stations based on a surveys completed by content and program directors to show how a radio brand can be programmed based on its personality.

Sam Cavanagh, the producer behind the successful Hamish & Andy show, will present his ‘Fans Not Listeners’ argument.

Cavanaugh, who is now Southern Cross Austereo’s national executive producer, will discuss how radio shows can get closer to their audiences than ever before.

For more on this ‘Fans Not Listeners’ position see B&T’s video interview with SCA’s digital director, Clive Dickens, and presenter Jules Lund in The Brief here.

Additional speakers will be announced shortly.

This year’s National Radio Conference will be held at Brisbane’s Royal International Convention Centre on October 11, the day before the 25th annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards.
