MediaCom battles three to retain CUB media account

EXCLUSIVE: The Carlton United Brewers (CUB) has confirmed that four agencies remain in contention for its $20 million media account, with a decision expected within a month.

Long term incumbent MediaCom faces some stiff opposition to retain the business in the shape of GroupM stablemate MEC, OmniCom’s PHD and Aegis agency Carat.

It’s the believed the shortlist of four has been whittled down from eight agencies that originally entered the race when it first pitched in July.

CUB confirmed to B&T that the company expects to make a decision on the successful agency within a matter of weeks.

The review is for media only, with all other agency services unaffected by the decision.

MediaCom will be pinning its hopes on retaining the CUB business following a difficult few weeks in which it's lost the $70 million NSW Government account to UM and relegated from top spot to third in the RECMA rankings.
