The season premiere of Ten’s MasterChef debuted to 1.11 million viewers last night but was 500,000 viewers shy of the ratings leader – Nine’s The Block.
The fifth season of Ten’s reality cooking show ranked eighth in OzTam’s metro overnights.
Last night also marked the launch of Paper Giants: Magazine Wars on ABC1 – the story of the rivalry between Woman’s Day and New Idea in the halcyon days of magazines – which won 846,000 viewers.
The Block won the night with 1.61 million, followed by Seven News (1.5 million), Nine News (1.47 million) and Nine’s 60 Minutes (1.29 million).
Seven’s new drama A Place To Call Home is holding its ground. It came in fifth with an audience of 1.23 million last night ahead of Seven’s Sunday Night (1.17 million) and The Force (1.13 million).
Seven’s Highway Patrol scraped into the top ten with 952,000 while Nine’s House Husbands just missed out with 901,000.
Other highlights in the top 20 included Modern Family (666,000) Elementary (665,000), Bondi Rescue (541,000), Ten News at Five (532,000) and the All New Simpsons (487,000), all on Ten.
Seven stole the largest share of audience at 29.6%, followed by Nine with 28.8% and Ten with 20.3%. The ABC scored 17.2% while SBS owned 4.1%.
