Condom and lubricant brand, Durex, have been announced as the official sponsor for Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this year.

As a tie in with this partnership, Durex has launched a new campaign called ‘Love Same Sex’ that embraces marriage equality, aiming to highlight and celebrate same sex relationships in Australia.

Featuring prominently on social media channels and GLBTI publications, the campaign will encourage those in a same sex relationship to shout out how many years they have been together and to take to Durex’s Facebook page to pledge their commitment.

On Mardi Gras Fair Day on Saturday the Durex photo booth saw over 3500 years of pledged commitment, with a further opportunity coming up on February 22 on Mardi Gras Harbour Day.

Durex will have an iconic float entitled “Years of Commitment” in the Mardi Gras parade, where couples can take photos and pledge their commitment for a chance to win a spot on the float or have their photo featured.
