MRN's managing director steps down

Macquarie Radio Network’s managing director Rob Loewenthal is departing his post as managing director.

The network, which owns Sydney’s 2GB and 2CH, made the announcement via the ASX this morning.

Loewenthal will step down from his role and as a member of the board of directors on March 28 this year.

Russel Tate, executive chairman of Macquarie Radio Network (MRN), said: “Rob has been a key part of our management team and as a colleague and friend I wish him continued success as he seeks new challenges.”

There will be no replacement hired for the MD role and Tate is to resume the positions of chairman and chief executive.

Loewenthal first joined MRN in October 2006 as chief financial officer before promotions to company secretary and chief operating officer. He assumed the managing director role in 2012.

In the latest radio ratings survey MRN’s 2GB was Sydney’s most listened to radio station with an overall Monday to Sunday share of 12.6%. 2CH sat on 5%.
