Liverpool FC’s victory over Melbourne at a sold out MCG last night proved a winner for Seven’s digital channel 7mate last night, firing it to 20th spot.
Hitting 588,000 viewers, 7mate had an audience of 8.4 per cent, according to the overnight ratings from OzTAM. It was the most popular of all other digital slots. It was enough to see the Seven Network take over from Nine in the ratings war by the finest of margins.
Seven had 29.6% of audiences last night thanks to the reliable Today Tonight (1.075m viewers), Home & Away (941,000), Criminal Minds (810,000) and new show Surveillance Oz (653,000).
Nine on the other hand had 29.3% of audiences. Its ever faithful The Block Sky High (1.335m) was beaten to top spot by Nine News (1.359m) while The Big Bang repeat (936,000) and Arrow (629,000) weren’t quite enough to help the network maintain the leading spot it's had for the last few weeks.
Masterchef has regained its strength after dropping out of the top 20, taking 737,000 of viewers, which proved to be Ten’s most popular show, while Offspring fell just short with 723,000 viewers. The reality and drama duo combined to give the network 18.2% of audience share.
ABC had 17.8% with the news its highest rating slot at 6th (951,000 viewers) along with 7.30 (795,000), and QI (728,000). SBS had 5.1% audience share.
