Gruen tops polls but Wonderland performs well

The second outing of Gruen Nation was the top-ranked entertainment show on the box last night, trumping Ten’s heavily promoted new drama Wonderland in the 8.30pm slot.

ABC1’s show looking at the federal election campaign and advertising pulled 1.052m viewers, only bettered by Nine News (1.209m) and Seven News according to the OzTam Overnight ratings.

Seven’s Slideshow slipped down the rankings to seventh overall with 932,000, with MasterChef in ninth with 807,000, and Nine’s Big Brother outside the top ten on 791,000.

But whilst Wonderland (948,000) failed to break the million mark it did top the 16-39 and 25-54 rankings.

Australia’s strong start in the fifth Ashes test topped the free-to-air viewing for Gem, with 414,000 tuning in to the first session, but failed to break into the top 20 most-watched shows overall.

However, the cricket did help Nine’s network beat Seven’s with 28.8% total share to 26.6%, with Gem taking an 8.3% viewing share, more than double SBS One’s 3.7%.

Seven’s main channel got 18.4%, Nine was on 16.6%, Ten on 14.6% and SBS1 on 14.4%.
