The weekend’s clash between the British and Irish Lions and the Wallabies pulled a big audience for Ten, as the absence of House Rules gave rival reno show a boost.

Saturday night’s game won over a metro audience of 862,000 viewres, according to OzTam.

The final Test was the most watched program of the evening among television viewers aged under 55, with the three-Test series reaching 4.67 million in the metro markets according to Ten.

Network Ten’s head of sport, David Barham, said Ten is committed to delivering the “best sports telecast on free-to-air television”. Upcoming sports broadcasts for Ten include the Formula One, Olympic Winter Games and the Bledisloe Cup Festival.

Meanwhile, on Sunday night Nine’s The Block Sky High was the most watched show with an audience of 1.636 million.

The result shows an increase of more than 130,000 viewers on The Block’s ratings from last Sunday when Seven’s House Rules was preparing for its finale.

House Husbands was down on last week’s million-plus result, pulling in 924,000 viewers.

Ten’s MasterChef couldn’t compete with the allure of Seven’s Sunday Night and Nine’s 60 Minutes at 7.30pm.

MasterChef did nab a top 10 spot and with 853,000 viewers, the result is a 170,000 audience leap on last week’s 683,000 viewers result.

Seven’s Sunday Night had 1.221 million viewers behind Nine’s 60 Minutes (1.225 million). Nine News Sunday had 1.498 million viewers compared to Seven News’ audience of 1.214 million.

Seven’s A Place to Call Home was watched by 1.13 million and Border Security – Australia’s Front Line won over 955,000.

Nine won the night overall with its main channel taking a 23.1% share of daily free-to-air viewers. Seven was runner-up with 21.3%, ahead of Ten’s 14.1%, the ABC’s 11.6% and SBS’ 4.7%.
