Pacific Magazines has promoted Matt Frilingos to editor of weekly gossip title, Famous, replacing Amy Sinclair.
Sinclair (pictured) is relocating interstate with her family and will pass the reins to Frilingos, most recently the executive editor, today.
Frilingos joined the Famous team at launch in 2006, before which he spent six years at News Limited holding various editorial roles mostly at The Daily Telegraph, including a stint on Sydney Confidential.
Gereurd Roberts, publisher, said: “Matt’s creativity, insight and drive will bring new opportunities for the Famous brand.
“We are thrilled for Matt to step-up to the role of editor as Famous continues to redefine the weekly magazine market.”
Frilingos said: “I look forward to what will be a hugely exciting phase for the magazine, and the great opportunities this role presents.”
Famous has weathered the tough conditions for magazines well in the last year.
The gossip title was one of only two magazines to increase in circulation in last year’s third quarter, rising 2.5% year-on-year, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
The fourth quarter proved more challenging, with Famous losing 2.9% of its sales in the three months to December. Nevertheless the magazine was the most stable weekly in the audit round, with every other weekly magazine dropping more significantly.
