Fairfax Media Limited Digital Ventures division has announced today a partnership with job search engine Adzuna, providing Aussies with a job seeking platform to rival Seek.
Since its launch locally, Adzuna has “already amassed more job listings on its site than the leading traditional job board SEEK”.
Founded in the UK in 2011, Adzuna is a vertical search engine which searches high and low through countless websites to deliver thousands of current job vacancies all in one place.
While Adzuna will now be Fairfax’s main job listing site, the MyCareer will continue online and as a print edition in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.
“Vertical search sites like Adzuna have proven to be great disruptors in markets around the world,” Grey Hywood, Fairfax Media CEO said.
“Unlike traditional job boards, Adzuna works closely with recruiters to deliver qualified candidates directly to them, with fees based purely on performance.
“Adzuna offers just the sort of change we need in this space.”
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Adzuna is paid per placement of job position, rather than Seek’s position of payment per job listing.
The amount of payment directly depends on how hard the job is to place.
Doug Monro, co-founder of Adzuna, said they were delighted with the joint venture.
“We believe that the thousands of people in Australia looking for work in 2014 are underserved by the tools currently available in the market,” he said.
The Sydney Morning Herald also reported that Seek said it had a 70% share of Australia's online job ad market, surpassing Fairfax’s MyCareer and News Limited’s CareerOne.
