Djokovic's mauling of Ferrer pulls crowds for Seven

Ten’s fast-tracking of American Idol appears to be paying off, growing its audience slightly to 545,000 ad 15th spot in the total people ratings, still dominated by news and tennis.

The show, featuring Aussie judge Keith Urban, was also second in the key 18-49 and 16-39 demographics of Ten’s younger audience.

However, it could not match Seven’s coverage of the Australian Open as Novak Djokovic swept past David Ferrer with 1.047m watching, and was also behind ABC1’s QI repeat (750,000), and Nine’s double helping of The Big Bang Theory (628,000 and 602,000), and Miss Congeniality.

Seven News won the night (1.152m), Nine News was second (1.116m), with ABC News fifth (912,000) and Ten News at Five tenth (666,000) in total people.

It means Seven won total network share again, with 32.6%, Nine second on 23.8%, ten third on 19.8% and ABC fourth on 16.8%.
