Nine’s Australia vs. South Africa Third Test secured 825,000 viewers last night to win par with Seven’s Motorway Patrol.

 In the ongoing ratings war between the two stations, their prime time rollouts could not be separated by a decimal point.

But Nine still gave itself a head start with its 6pm news bulletin pulling into first spot with 1,291,000 viewers.

Seven news came second, with 1,165,000, followed by Today Tonight on 1,155,000.

Ten’s Modern Family and Seven’s SCU: Serious Crash Uni  also boasted the same numbers, with 792,000 watching each of the prime time programs.

Seven marginally took out the highest audience share with 28.7%, followed by Nine on 26.6%, Ten on 20.5%, ABC on 19.8% and SBS on 4.4%, according to the OzTam preliminary ratings report.
