It was always meant to be short and, well, sweet, but Celebrity Splash is officially over and given its final audience of 650,000, most likely never to grace our screens again.

Of more concern for Channel Seven, is the performance of its heavily promoted renovation competition show House Rules, which according to the OzTam preliminary ratings, slide to 12th position in the metro city free-to-air ratings with an audience of 687,000.

House Rules direct competition, The Block Sky High, continued to show its strength with an audience of 1.04 million and fourth position, and its spin-off behind-the-scenes show, The Block Sky High Unlocked, garnered itself with 853,000 viewers and ninth position overall.

Based on these results, it’s no surprise that Nine won the evening with 23% of the total share and Seven only managed 19.7% of share.

The ABC was again the beneficiary of the poor showings by the commercial networks with 14.2% of the metro audience share thanks to the nation’s public broadcaster managing to get seven programs in the top 20. It’s most popular program was Our Queen, which collected an audience of 903,000 viewers and seventh position overall.

Channel Ten managed 12.9%, while SBS picked up 5.6% of the total metro audience.

Both Block programs, the Footy Show and Nine’s news gave Channel Nine the first four positions in the 16-39 year-old bracket.
