Nine’s Celebrity Apprentice slipped further down the ratings ladder last night, rating below Ten News at Five with less than 700,000 viewers.

The ratings of the reality show, hosted by Mark Bouris, have been see sawing over recent weeks, reaching a peak of 1.28 million for the second episode.

The show ranked 15th and 16th in OzTam’s preliminary metro overnights last night.

Ten’s MasterChef fared only slightly better with 860,000, also missing out on a spot in the top ten. 

Nothing could beat news – Nine News triumphed in first place with 1.36 million, followed by Seven News with 1.21 million – but The Block Sky High on Nine came closest.

The renovation show lured 1.18 million viewers last night in third place, followed by Packed to the Rafters on Seven (1.12 million).

A Current Affair and Seven’s House Rules were the only other two programs to score above a million viewers.

Also in the top ten were Seven’s Today Tonight (985,000), ABC News, Seven’s Home and Away (882,000) and Ten's NCIS

Seven won the night with a 28.5% share of audience, followed by Nine with 26%. Ten secured a much  improved 20.3%, while the ABC won 15.6% and SBS more than doubled its usual share with 9.5%.
