Uber Set To Disrupt The Delivery Business With Launch Of Uber Rush

World domination now seems inevitable for the people at Uber who’ve announced plans for a new delivery service called Uber Rush.

The concept was been trialed for a while in the US but now appears set to become a flourishing new part of the $US50 billion a year Uber business.

Basically, Rush is similar to its existing taxi service and will deliver you parcels, collect your take-away or even go back and pick up the jacket you left in the restaurant.

Rush will operate separately to its taxi service and will only deliver goods and not people which will all be tracked and timed on the app.

Uber believes Rush will be of most use to small businesses who will now be able to add a ‘home delivery’ option with every sale (businesses can either wear the cost of pass it on). Reports out of the US has said typical courier companies like FedEx or UPS are already nervous.

Uber says it will only be doing the delivering and you’ll still have to purchase/order from the retailer, restaurant or store.

Here in Australia, Rush could seriously dent the already seriously dented fortunes of Australia Post that just announced a $220 million loss for the last financial year.

The successful trial in the US was limited to three cities – Chicago, San Francisco and New York – and was a mix of cars, bikes and even people on foot.

As yet there has been no reports if or when Uber may bring the Rush concept to Australia.
