Roger Federer Manages To Offend Entire Nation In Sponsor Cock-Up

Tennis supremo Roger Federer has been forced to apologise to the nation of Pakistan after he was photographed holding an Indian one-day cricket shirt which was later posted on Facebook.

Although largely disinterested in the game itself, the 17-time grand slam winner was handed the shirt by his sponsor Nike as part of the promotion for the Cricket World Cup currently taking place in Australia and New Zealand.

India and Pakistan can’t actually stand the sight of each other, and even when they do play it has to be on neutral grounds with the fans separated.

“It was a Nike campaign they had because I met some of the Indian players and I had just spent some time in India so they presented the shirt to me,” Federer said of the clothing brouhaha.

The tennis champ was largely bemused by all the fuss, yet apologised to Pakistan fans where he is reported to have a huge fan base.

Federer went on to say he wasn’t actually a great cricket fan and knew little of the game. He said he only ever followed it when playing tennis in cricket loving countries such as Australia or the UAE.

He went on to say he actually supported South Africa, the birthplace of his mother and where has a charity for disadvantaged children.
