Social Change Maker Profile: Will Berner, Sinorbis

B&T has partnered with UnLtd to bring attention to some game-changing stars in our industry and their respective charity work. We’ve been celebrating one of these legends per week – and now it’s time for another.

Last week we probed Jenni Hayward from Adrenalin on anything and everything – from sailing around the world to the global refugee crisis.

This week, it’s time for you to meet Will Berner, 29, a China Marketing Specialist at Sinorbis.

First ever job: At a local grocery store.

If I wasn’t doing my job, I’d be: A farmer – I like the idea of food and space.

How I got where I am today: Two degrees, and growing from an accounting grad role.

Causes I care about: Helping disadvantaged kids. There is currently 50,000 Aussie kids in foster care and that number is way too high!

The change I’d like to see in the world: I’d like to see humans take better care of the world for future generations.

How did you first get involved with UnLtd: Through winning the MFA NGEN Award in 2016, and working alongside them and the Pyjama Foundation to bring it to life.

The charity projects I’m currently working on: The Pyjama Foundation has been my focus, they just launched the campaign #everywordcounts. Donate now! It’s an awesome charity.

Why I want to give back: I’ve been blessed with a supportive and loving family, not everyone gets that – it’s the least I can do.

The best/most rewarding volunteering experience I’ve had: Consecutive Starlight days at Mediacom. Each year it was amazing to see the generosity of others.

Speaking of MediaCom – the CEO, Willie Pang, is one of our mentors for the B&T Bootcamp! It’s in less than a weeks time, so grab some of the last available tickets right here

My greatest achievement: Still to come. Watch this space.

The person/company I’d like to challenge to get involved & why: I’d love to see the prime minister dressed in pyjamas during a national address to highlight the plight of children in foster care.

My advice for someone just starting their career is: Just do it.

If I could have one super power, that would be: Teleport…See ya commuting and crammed budget flights!

UnLtd is a social purpose organisation connecting the media, marketing and creative industries with charities helping children and young people at risk. Find out how you can get involved at unltd.org.au.
