Optus Promotes Ben White To Marketing Lead

Optus has hired internally for the lead role of the telco’s of product marketing, with Ben White given the green light to move on up the food chain.

Previously, White had been managing director of product marketing and has been with the telco for six years.

He has been instrumental in a number of Optus initiatives, such as the partnership with iHeartRadio and Optus’ pricing and package options for watching the English Premier League which suffered a rather hefty amount of backlash.

Nevertheless, White said he’s chuffed with the promotion. “I’m delighted to be appointed to this role,” he said.

“This is an exciting time to be part of Optus and I look forward to leading the team as we continue to transform our brand into a mobile-led entertainment business.”

White will now be responsible for Optus’ consumer mobile and fixed products, TV and entertainment services, brand and communications, analytics and insights and innovation.

“After a global search, I’m pleased to announce Ben’s appointment to this key leadership role,” said Allen Lew, CEO of Optus.

“His deep knowledge of Optus and the Australian telecommunications market will ensure we are well positioned to drive consideration of Optus by delivering innovative solutions that entertain customers and enhance their lives.

“Over the past several months, Ben has been the driving force behind Optus’ recent successes including Yes TV by Fetch, Optus Music, Home Wireless Broadband, and our refreshed brand. With his extensive product and marketing background, Ben is well-placed to lead the next phase of our transformation starting with the launch of the English Premier League.”
