Leica Australia Appoints Local Chinese PR Agency Spark Communication

Sydney specialist public relations agency Spark Communication has been hired by camera company Leica to manage its Australia-based Chinese PR and marketing.

The agency will be managing Leica’s local WeChat account, influencer engagement and local marketing partnerships.

Laura Andric, head of marketing for Leica in Australia, said: “There is a strong representation of Chinese customers within the Leica Camera Australia audience, and we felt that a Chinese communications strategy was well overdue.

“Our first engagement with Spark Communication was centred around our educational arm of the business, Leica Akademie, to which we had a staggering response.

“I’m excited to see the future opportunities that we will be presented with in the partnership between Leica Camera Australia and Spark Communication.”

Jennifer Spark founder and managing director at Spark Communication, said the agency was delighted to add Leica to its client stable, which also includes Cartier Australia, Birkenhead Point Brand Outlets and China Southern Airlines.

“I’m incredibly excited to work with Leica Australia team on their Chinese language content and marketing,” she said.

“The brand already has a huge presence in China and it’s a great opportunity to connect the brand to local photography enthusiasts. It’s a real privilege to represent the brand in Australia and we already have some exciting partnerships and content in the works.”

Spark Communication is a boutique PR agency that specialises in cross-cultural communications and brand strategy, with a focus on the Chinese market.
