The appointment follows current marketing chief Liz McCarthy’s move to head up the Jetstar Group’s Customer Care and Shared Services functions across Asia Pacific.

Jetstar Group chief commercial officer Catriona Larritt said the move demonstrated the depth of talent within the low fares airline.

“Liz has done an amazing job evolving our brand and building really capable local teams as we’ve expanded rapidly across the Asia Pacific region,” Larritt said.

“We know brands are only as strong as the experience they deliver and after almost five-years shaping our proposition Liz is perfectly placed to take customer care to a whole new level.

“We have great marketing talent across the Qantas Group and we’re excited about the wealth of experience Phil brings to this role.

“Phil has a really strong pedigree in marketing and e-commerce and under his leadership we’ll re-double our focus on data and digital to help ensure we’re reaching more customers in a more relevant and personalised way than ever before. We’re working to become one of the great travel retailers in the region and Phil’s appointment will help us get there.”

Wade joined the Qantas Group last year to run the hotels platform for Qantas and Jetstar, Hooroo. Before that Phil has held a number of senior marketing and e-commerce roles at the global retail giant TJX, Unilever and Target. Wade has also served in a range of marketing and sales roles in the retail sector throughout Europe.
