InnovationAus.com Bolsters Team And Announces Q1 2017 Conferences

InnovationAus.com has announced four new appointments to its growing team, as the publication expands its reach and ramps up development of industry leading events in the government, startup innovation and technology sectors.

Faye Hampton will lead business development at InnovationAus.com, driving commercial partnerships for the publication, having previously worked as a sales director at CeBIT.

Alec Mata joins as business development executive, responsible for managing delegate relationships. He was previously business development consultant at OpenGov Asia.

Patricia Alfaro is the new senior producer on the team, responsible for the strategic development of corporate events that provide communication and networking opportunities, encouraging collaboration between industry, government and community representatives. Previously, Patricia was conference director at Quest Events and event manager at IDG Communications.

Denham Sadler also joins as a part-time writer, supporting the growing team of leading journalists that contribute to InnovationAus.com. His previous experience at StartupSmart will serve well in reporting on Australia’s booming mid-tier and fast-growth companies.

The new year will kick off a number of events run by InnovationAus.com. The Women in VC Forum, taking place in Sydney on 23 February, will include talks from expert international and local speakers on the state of venture capital for women.

More than 200 senior executives will come together to hear first-hand how the venture capital space has evolved from a female perspective, and what mechanisms the sector can put in place to encourage more women to join and stay actively engaged.

Slated for March, Intelligent Communities 2017, to be held in Melbourne, and Intelligent Communities Bendigo will rally top public sector and private community innovators to advance and showcase the initiatives driving intelligent urban infrastructure. More than 400 policy-makers and key stakeholders from the government, business, education and community sectors will discuss key issues and opportunities for building intelligent communities in Australia.

The Security Leaders Conference, to be held in Melbourne on 14 March, will bring together senior business, government and technology executives to look at how the cyber community can build an adequate pipeline of skills that reflects the diversity of the communities it serves. It will explore the well-rounded vocational paths to develop the next generation of cyber security leaders.

“Some of the key highlights from 2016 included our Budget Insider reporting on innovation from Parliament House lock up, hosting the debate on innovation during the 2016 Federal Election in partnership with 10 industry bodies, our second annual Open Opportunity event in Sydney, and adding an additional sold out Canberra Open Opportunity forum this year.”

“The growing interest in the issues explored on InnovationAus.com and the success of the events we have been running gave us the impetus to expand our team. We are delighted with the high calibre of people that have joined the publication,” McLeod added.

Since it launched 18 months ago, InnovationAus.com has doubled its number of expected readers, indicating that there is a very strong appetite for industry innovation stories nation-wide.

In addition to editorial director, James Riley, the publication’s roster of regular contributors include Beverley Head, Michael Sainsbury, Graeme Philipson, Stuart Kennedy, Mark Gregory, Margaret Lim and Denham Sadler.
