A new study into Millennial women (those under 35) have found that careers are important but their number one priority is still their families.

The study, albeit a US one, was conducted by career advice platform Creative & Cultivate and surveyed more than 400 Gen Y females about their jobs, finances and their social habits.

One of the biggest findings of the study was that 83 per cent of respondents said they wanted to run their own businesses.

“The tone of advertising needs to be overhauled,” Creative & Cultivate’s CEO Jaclyn Johnson said of the findings. “It went from women as homemakers, to women as corporate success stories, to women now being the CEO of their own lives and businesses.

“Women can put family and company culture first but still manage to save more, and do more, with the money they are given,” Johnson said, her comments reported on US industry news site AdWeek.
