Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa are challenging Aussies to a film making head-to-head as part of Supercheap Auto’s Big Break Competition, which launched earlier this month.

The duo will put their creativity to the test by producing their very own Supercheap Auto ads to share with the Australian public, who are also invited to make their own commercial for the retail brand.

The initiative marks the launch of Supercheap Auto’s Big Break contest which will see aspiring creatives compete for a $20,000 cash prize and the opportunity to have their ad screened to more than two million television viewers during the broadcast of the iconic Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Taking inspiration from the hugely successful ‘Crash the Superbowl’ contest, entrants will be tasked with scripting, filming and producing a 30 second Supercheap Auto television commercial reflecting their interpretation of the brand and passion for all things motoring.

A Supercheap Auto judging panel will shortlist 10 videos that will be put to consumer vote, allowing the public to decide the ultimate winner. The winning entry will secure more than $150,000 airtime during the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 on Sunday 13 October 2014, with all ten finalists each receiving a handy $1,000 reward.

Supercheap Auto marketing manager David Bauer said the business was excited about engaging its fans in this unique way.

“We are constantly amazed and entertained by fans who have taken the creative initiative to produce and share with us their very own Supercheap Auto content,” he said.

“We recognise that our fans are our best brand ambassadors and as such, have decided to offer them a real opportunity by handing the promotional reins over to them.

“This is the first time we have asked our customers to get involved with our television campaign and we’re excited to see what level of creativity the Australian public has to offer.

“Offering a level of broadcast exposure that is hard to come by, the initiative provides the perfect platform for anyone looking to make their break in the creative industries, or for those just looking to have some creative fun.”

Nova’s Fitzy said the duo was also excited by the competition and would make the most of the rare opportunity to get in front of the camera.

“I’m confident that when the public gets to see our acting and directing prowess, a Logie nomination will come knocking,” Fitzy said.

“I reckon Supercheap Auto will be hard pushed to find anyone else who has the same level of creative genius as we do – but we’re challenging them to have a crack anyway.”
