Finder.com.au Appoints Allure Media’s Danny Allen To Head Publishing Innovation

Finder.com.au has announced Danny Allen will be joining the company as head of publishing innovation.

As part of the publishing team, Allen will be working on innovation projects to leverage finder’s growth and global expansion.

He joins finder from Allure Media, where he was head of product and innovation, working across brands such as Gizmodo, Lifehacker and Kotaku.

Fred Schebesta, co-founder of finder, says Allen will play a crucial part in spearheading new publishing projects to maximise opportunities for new initiatives.

“finder continues to forge a global presence and intends to become the world’s go-to destination for comparing,” he said.

“Danny has a unique skillset combining editorial with commerce, which is crucial in taking us to the next level.”

“He has led some of Australia’s finest partnerships and publications to be where they are today, and brings with him a wealth of experience in both the realms of media and technology.”

Angus Kidman, editor-in-chief at finder.com.au, is rapt with the new hire, and excited to be working alongside him again.

“Danny is incredibly good value and well-revered within the industry. His skills, knack for creativity and innovative thinking will be a great addition to the finder publishing team,” Kidman said.

Allen said he’s keen to keep exploring opportunities at the intersection of commerce and editorial.

“As managing editor and publisher of Gizmodo, Lifehacker and Kotaku — then head of product also across Business Insider and POPSUGAR — I’ve been fortunate enough to help pioneer Allure Media’s native editorial, content-to-commerce and syndication partnerships over the last six years.”

“I’m excited to bring that mix to finder, which shares my guiding belief that great things happen commercially when you respect, inform and inspire your audience,” he said.

Allen is a former editor for Gizmodo in the US and Australia, and has 17 years of consumer tech publishing under his belt.

He founded TechHive’s GeekTech blog (as PC World/Macworld Senior Editor in San Francisco), co-authored The Ultimate Guide to Mac OS X book and picked up a Best Technical Journalist (Consensus IT Writers Awards) along the way.
