A technical glitch has seen a New Zealand grocery chain become an overnight social media sensation.

The store, known as Countdown, lost its “o” after an apparent electrical fault. The store, located at Auckland Airport, soon left arriving tourists with a rather unfortunate welcome message.

Catherine Sayce captured the disaster and shared it on Instagram, where it has since gone viral. Countdown has since corrected the fault, but not before a number of other people complained it had also happened at their local store, too.

Thankfully, most people saw the funny side of the mishap, taking to social media to share their delight.

“The lighting on that ‘O’ has been seen to fail on a few fair of those signs around the country now… coincidence?!? If so, I applaud the person who made them with a ‘flaw’,” one person wrote.

While another used it to attack the store’s pricing. “That’s what their name should because of the prices they charge,” they wrote.
