Campaign: Fiji Airways’ ‘Home Away From Home’

As part of the new Fiji Airways global brand positioning: Welcome To Our Home, the airline is extending its famous warm spirit of Fiji to those that would welcome it most.

Fiji Airways is offering a once in a lifetime opportunity for an individual, couple or family to spend a week experiencing the care and warmth of a Fijian family and enjoy a well-deserved break like no other.

Australians are world-renowned, avid travellers but there are many who don’t ever leave their homes or towns. The reasons for not experiencing the world at large are personal and many, ranging from; hardship, tragedy, fears of neglecting commitments, whatever it may be, they feel bound to their homes. These Australians deserve to get away.

With approximately 470,000 Australians[1] choosing not to leave their homes and see the wonders of neighbouring countries in recent years, coupled with over 128 million [2]days of annual leave accrued nationally, there are many people who have earned the chance to put their feet up. To help these people, Fiji Airways, Fiji’s national airline, is today calling upon the country to nominate a truly deserving individual, couple or family to experience a tropical ‘home away from home experience’ in Fiji.

“Taking a break can be a powerful source of happiness,” said Dr Tim Sharp, CEO Happiness Institute. “We know from research that one of the ways we really can “buy” happiness is by purchasing experiences which then create memories and frequently improve the quality of relationships. In addition, we also know that taking a break can enhance our wellbeing and performance at work, as switching off is important if we really want to switch on. To really maximise the benefits of rest and relaxation, enjoying the comforts of somewhere that feels like a home away from home will do wonders for physical and mental wellbeing.”

“Fiji has some of the friendliest and most welcoming people in the world” said Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO. “For some people, travel might be part of their ongoing routine but they actually get to relax. For others, the place they call home is the only place they have ever known. We want to change that for a few praise-worthy people and give them a ‘home away from home’ experience and to feel the warmth and care the people of Fiji has to offer.”

The chosen travellers will be flown to a pristine location to experience the tropical islands, and be offered a ‘home away from home’ with a difference. They will not only get to live and breathe the Fijian culture, they will also be able to take part in everything Fiji has to offer; with horse riding on the beach, snorkelling, and diving plus many of more life-changing activities.

“We understand the feeling everyone gets when they are at home, and we want to showcase how this can be experienced not just when you’re in your own four walls, but on board our aircraft,” continued Pichler. “Guests on Fiji Airways are far more than just a seat number, they are part of our extended Fijian family.”
