Product Management training and consulting firm Brainmates has appointed Jen Marshall as CEO.

Marshall was previously at Fairfax where she led product development across business publishing assets, including The Australian Financial Review. Prior to that she was category manager for news, information and consumables at Optus.

Marshall also has significant experience in newsroom leadership roles at Sky News, including director of digital news.

“The discipline of product management is reaching a tipping point in Australia, and we see an opportunity to support that growth.” said Adrienne Tan, founder and principal consultant.

“The marketplace in every industry is changing so fast that the traditional product management methods are struggling to accelerate with them. Brainmates has appointed Jen to scale our business to ensure we can meet our client needs, bringing them the best new methods,” said Nick Coster, founder and head of training.

Commenting on her appointment, Marshall said, “I’m thrilled to be joining Brainmates at such an exciting time for Product Management. I see great opportunity to leverage the knowledge and connections we have in the Brainmates network to keep clients educated and informed.

“This October, we’ll bring The Lean Product Playbook author Dan Olsen, to Australia for the Leading the Product conference. That will be a great opportunity for people to expose themselves to Silicon Valley thinking.”
