Bebhinn Carey Promoted To MediaCom’s APAC Communications Director

MediaCom has announced the promotion of Bebhinn Carey, currently marketing and PR director for MediaCom AUNZ, to communications director APAC.

Carey started at MediaCom five years ago and since that time has completely overhauled how the agency’s approach to PR and marketing and has created a significant impact across the organisation.

As communications director APAC, Carey will lead strategic communications and PR initiatives across the region and will take responsibility for internal and external communications of the agency, with the aim of further enhancing its brand reputation regionally and locally in AUNZ.

Continuing to be based in Sydney, Carey will report directly to Mark Heap, MediaCom’s APAC CEO, and Willie Pang, who leads the network in Australia and New Zealand, and will work with regional leaders to grow MediaCom’s brand and profile in every market across APAC.

Carey will also continue to work closely with the global marketing team based in London to ensure that the agency maintains a 24-hour-a-day watch on any relevant news or issues likely to impact the network or its clients.

Heap said of the appointment: “Bebhinn has worked for our Australian office for five years and she’s become a highly respected member of the local leadership team during that time. The agency has endured some testing times and come out of them stronger thanks in part to Bebhinn’s strategic advice and coolness under pressure.

“I’m delighted that we could fill this role internally as Bebhinn’s intimate knowledge of our people, clients, culture and product are all factors that will make her an undoubtable success. She will certainly help the whole region raise its game in communications.”

Carey added: “I’m so thrilled to be taking on this new role and excited to be working even more closely with my colleagues across the region and the Global Marketing team in London. There’s such a huge opportunity to celebrate the great work that MediaCom is doing across APAC on behalf of our clients & people. I’m humbled by the opportunity and I can’t wait to get started!” s

Pang commented: “We are so proud to promote B from within our ranks. A proven leader in communications, she has driven nothing short of a turnaround in the way that we communicate ourselves and our people in the AUNZ market. I have no doubt will do the same for the region.”.

Earlier this year, Carey was named a winner of the PR category in B&T’s 30Under30 Awards, as well as receiving a shortlist nomination in the 2017 B&T Women in Media Awards.
