Adidas Offers Island To NFL Prospects Who Break Sprint Record (But There’s A Catch)

Sportswear giant Adidas is offering an island (yes, an island) to any NFL prospect who breaks the record for the 40-metre dash at the football league’s upcoming scouting event.

Adidas has agreed to provide a winner with an island “as soon as reasonably possible”, so long as they break the record at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis while wearing the company’s 2017 Adizero 5-Star 40 cleats, and endorse the company’s shoes for the entire 2017-18 season, according to ESPN.

However, if the record-breaking athlete doesn’t want an island, Adidas has offered to pay them $1 million instead.

The 40-metre dash record is a much sought-after bragging rights title among NFL prospects. The current record is held by Chris Johnson, who clocked 4.24 seconds in 2008.

ESPN noted that this is not the first time that Adidas has given endorsement deals or cash prizes to NFL prospects who run the fastest 40-metre dash, having offered $1 million last year if someone could set a new mark.
